WHO IS ECOZENTRICK?

“The Universe is made of stories, not atoms.”

Muriel Rukeyser

Ecozentrick is what happens when you combine a writer, a mystic, and a criminologist. We would like to share stories about the natural world, the interconnectedness of all life, and the crimes committed against nature. Storytelling has been a means of conveying knowledge and wisdom for thousands of years, shaping and transforming our consciousness and reality. With our stories, we aim to inspire you to connect more deeply with nature and to recognize that there is no separation between you and the natural world. What occurs within you also reflects in the world around you, and vice versa.

Nature serves as an incredible source of inspiration and is our greatest teacher. At its core, nature embodies balance. However, humans have been disconnected from this natural equilibrium for a long time, leading to a separation between ourselves and our environment. This disconnection has given rise to numerous ecological crises, loss of land and species, the abuse and mismanagement of animals, plants, and minerals, as well as issues like poverty, declining mental, emotional, and physical health, inequality, and wars. All these problems stem from our detachment from the balance that sustains life on this planet.

If we wish to restore that balance, we must first find it within ourselves, as changing the world begins from within. By understanding the natural world, we can gain deeper insights into ourselves. We share biochemistry with other living beings on Earth, and while we may ignore this fact, our bodies have not forgotten it. Furthermore, we should remember that modern humans have only inhabited this planet for approximately 200,000 years, while other species have existed here for millions of years. For instance, bees have been on Earth for more than 100 million years! This reality should inspire humility in us and foster a sense of reverence for the natural world.

One of our oldest narratives is the tale of the Zodiac, which describes the Sun’s movement across the sky and how its light influences life on Earth. This narrative is rooted in the concept of “as above, so below”—what occurs in the heavens is mirrored in the world below.

Another ancient story is that of the Moon Nakshatras. While the tale of the Sun’s movement reflects concrete, physical changes on Earth influenced by variations in sunlight, the Moon’s movements connect to our internal experiences, perceptions, and feelings—our subjective experiences as living beings on this planet. The story of the Moon is more mysterious and hidden, much like the Moon itself.

We aim to share stories that explore human consciousness through the ancient wisdom of the 27 Nakshatras of the Moon. The Nakshatras, central to Vedic philosophy, are often referred to as lunar mansions or the “wives” of the Moon, each carrying its unique wisdom and consciousness. Each Nakshatra embodies a wealth of knowledge that helps illuminate and deepen our connection between heaven and earth, spirit and matter, which are fundamentally the same.

Consciousness is just another term for light, and in a world of duality, there also exists darkness. Therefore, we will also examine the dark and shadowy aspects that emerge in human consciousness, as manifested in harm and crimes against the natural world. By viewing consciousness through both light and dark, we want to foster a sense of connection, demonstrating that we are all part of a vast web of consciousness. Ultimately, we hope you see that these stories are not only about the external world; They are about you!

Stay wild,
